cloudsyncr was an application born out of the need to backup photos from the iPhone camera roll in an easily accessibly manner, without the need to sync with iTunes or iPhoto. The key word being easily. While Apple now offers the ability to backup the camera roll without syncing to iTunes, those photos aren't easily accessible (they're just in a remote storage location in the iCloud). With cloudsyncr, the photos can get uploaded to a user designated Dropbox folder.
As a practical example, let's say you spend the weekend around town shooting photos with your iPhone. At the end of the weekend you have about 100 photos on your phone, but unless you plug in to iTunes or iPhoto, there really isn't a quick way to get your photos off your phone.
This is where cloudsyncr becomes handy, simply select the photos you wish to send to your Dropbox (you can select individual photos, or you can select all unsynced photos) and select sync. The photos will be sent to the Dropbox folder you designate.
You can specify that cloudsyncr upload the photos into a device specific subfolder (for example - Chris' iPhone). This is useful if you have multiple iOS devices syncing to the same Dropbox account/folder. You can also further specify that it upload the photos into subfolder by date. Useful if you take a lot of photos and don't want a single folder cluttered with hundreds of photos.
If you share your photos with social media sites, cloudsyncr also has built in uploading to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Google Picasa, and Flickr. Currently uploading is limited on a per-photo basis, but further enhancements will allow multiple photo upload to Picasa and Flickr.
More technically inclined users can configure cloudsyncr to send their photos to an Amazon S3 bucket of their choosing. This is handy if you have a process you employ to automatically manipulate your photos after they are uploaded.
cloudsyncr is currently available in the app store for USD $0.99 and supports localization in Japanese, Italian, and Spanish.
