barrioSquare - a maemo, N900 app for foursquare.com

Note: The latest version of barrioSquare can be found in the extras-devel repository:

Also, to note, I am no longer actively developing this application. You can follow further development progress here:

As there is no publicly available Maemo foursquare app, I decided to write one.

Leveraging the public foursquare API here: http://groups.google.com/group/foursquare-api

I'll attempt to develop a Maemo 5 / Nokia N900 application based upon the following technologies:

  • Python (PyMaemo)
  • Qt (PyQt)
  • Webservices (RESTful)

The name I've chosen: barrio = (neighborhood in Spanish) + square (from foursquare).
Also, seeing as I live in the El Barrio (Spanish Harlem) section of New York City, I though it would be a fitting name.

Feel free to get in touch if you wish to collaborate on this project: I need people well versed in PyQt (Python with Qt bindings), and PyMaemo. Additionally if you're a UI designer and want to contribute, let me know as well.

Current version: 0.0.2α
